Eden are an Irish duo, probably the first Irish duo that have made themselves noticed outside Ireland itself(I live in Germany so I haven't heard of another!)But where most duos are alike, they also fall into the singer/musician bracket Power the singer and Henderson the musician.
Here we have an album that although is pleasant to listen to,is not exactly groundbreaking.But that is not to say the album is a poor one.Eden seem to pitch themselves between 90's duo Savage Garden and Coldplay.There may not seem to be much room for variety between these comparisons but no song on the album sounds too much like the other.Infact it is the other way around latin influences,hip-hop beats,irish haunting music,guitar riffs,synthesisers they all make appearances."My World" has a guitar riff George Harrison would be proud of and a chorus Oasis could have written,"You will never know" is primarily a vocal platform for Power who belts out the glorious chorus,'Let it flow" is a dark yet hip slice of pop and "Haven" is a Clannad like ballad with beautiful lyrics (as does "For you I live")."Cold February" is a six minute long epic journey through three tempos and shows that Eden might be open to a bit of drama.The production plays a little too safe at times and never quite goes to the edge;
"A little time" suffers most in this.
DESOLATE SHORES is a pop album, pop stands for popular and i for one think it is a good pop album with well crafted songs,a great singer and a safe but playful(at times) production.Hell i might even buy the album myself!! BEST SONG:Let it flow WORST SONG:Someone to love(with flutes!)
